Recently, one of Lordhair’s customers Aaron Bryan, who has many years of experience in maintaining hair systems. In this blog, we will discuss how to prevent shedding in your hair system.
Here's the video where he shared his expertise on hair system maintenance.
Washing with Warm Water
The water temperature is important when washing your hair system. Be sure to always use cold and lukewarm water for shampooing; Hot water should be avoided because it can damage the adhesive and base material, the hair will be sticky or the cuticles of the hair strand will be lifted if the hot water is being used. This may result in tangling, which in turn, may provoke difficulties in combing the hair and then create hair loss.
Gentle Washing Techniques
To ensure that shampooing hair system is always superb, go in for a particular men's hair system cleaner. Be gentle with your scalp—no need to rub hard. Instead, extend the shampoo uniformly via the use of a comb or brush and apply the lotion in the same flow as the hair. This tender treatment keeps your wig framework firm and minimizes hair fall during cleaning.
Importance of Using a Hair Conditioner
After shampooing, it’s important to pay attention to hair care products. As hair systems do not have a continuous nutrient supply like real hair, we need to use some hair care products to keep them glossy and full of nourishment. It is recommended that hair care use a hair mask instead of a conditioner. Hair masks are more moisturizing and can fill the hair scales better, so it is easier to comb.
Rinsing with Low-Pressure Water
Avoid the heavy pressure of water while shampooing and rinsing. You do not want the impact of water to be too hard on your hair system. The pressure can affect the mesh at the base of the toupee and damage it, eventually leading to the shedding of the hair.
Correct Temperature and Pressure for Blow-Drying
When you prepare your hair system for blow-drying, make sure to use a medium temperature and low air pressure. This will prevent overheating and strong winds that may ruin your wig and cause shedding.
Easy-to-wash, Lightweight Styling Products
Use easy-to-clean styling products. Avoid using large amounts of wax or grease products since they create a residue that builds up on the hair strands and irreparably damages the hair system.
Protecting Your Hair System While Sleeping
Sleeping is an easily overlooked part of toupee protection, even while one is sleeping. Wearing a silk or satin headband or sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase reduces hair friction while one is asleep, which may cause the hair system to tangle or fall off.
Precautions for Taking Off and Putting On Your Hair System
One should avoid excessive pulling and tugging of the hair system while putting on or removing the system, especially thin-skinned hair systems. It will without a doubt stretch, which in effect could increase the size of the holes, causing more hair loss.
Storage for Proper Breath-ability
If this toupee is not used for a long time, it should be cleaned and erected on the box, with a breathable plastic cover added. This would not only maintain the original hairstyle but also avoid invasion by dust and bacteria. Random folding or clamping in clothes to save is prohibited as this will result in loss of hair.
Hair loss with your hair system can be avoided by nothing less than the following: Always treat your hair pieces with gentle care!
