Mono-filament (mono for short) looks similar to a lace hair system, except that lace is made out of fibrous material, mono uses a plastic material to create netting. Therefore it is even more sturdy than lace, whilst at the same time being very breathable, due to the holes in the netting.

A mono base hair system is often referred to as a mono top hair system, because mono is usually used on the top area (i.e. the crown), and not at the sides because it doesn't create a natural edge, unlike a lace or skin front.

Just be aware that when it comes to swimming in pools, the chlorine can be harmful to the hair and make it drier. So, we would recommend you deep condition the hair after you go swimming to help revitalize the hair.

It will come down to personal preference but as a basic rule, we recommend using tape to attach to the skin or PU base along the perimeter. Do not use glue on the mono base, as it can be difficult to clean and may lead to shedding.

We recommend not cleaning your hair system too often as handling it and cleaning it can cause hair shedding to happen more quickly. Generally speaking, once every two weeks should be enough.
